Green Wednesdays!
In 2020, Poly's student Green Team had begun hosting monthly Green Wednesdays. Once a month, a different environmental club hosts an event open to the entire school, where students get to engage in an activity while learning more about the club. In February of 2020, Poly's Aquaponics club gave a tour of the aquaponics lab, where students learned about aquaculture and helped plant basil, marigold, and arugula seedlings with the Aquaponics club. Twelve students got pizza and received community service hours. In March, the recycling club recruited students to help them collect the school recycling and understand where it goes. Forty-six students came out in March. In April, the Gardening club will have students help them plant spring seeds; and in May, the Environmental Club will host a hike/trash pick up along the Jones Falls.

Earth Month Celebration
In addition, in April 2020 Poly will be celebrating the Earth the entire month with numerous activities. The main celebration will be on April 30 which will be organized by the senior class and the Poly Green Team. There will be a recycled trash fashion show which the whole school will be invited to attend and participate. Celebrity judges from the community will be brought in to judge. There will be cash money prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Additionally, the school's Synergy Dance Team will be performing a trash-wheel dance. During this month, Earth Month T-Shirts will be sold to all Poly students. Teachers have been asked to have a "Green Moment" during instruction for the month of April. Below are pictures from the planning meetings for the big event.
