Pollinator Garden
Every year, the students in the Poly Environmental Club work on the school's pollinator garden, designed, planted, and maintained by students at Poly. This garden has a diverse number of plants native to Maryland which the students become familiar with as they learn to care for and take care of the garden. It serves to make Poly a greener place and as a habitat for many Maryland species.
Building Bird Boxes
In 2017, the Environmental Club made and hung up bird boxes around the Poly campus. Below are pictures of the construction.
In 2019, the Poly Environmental Club used recycled materials, such as 2 Liter plastic bottles, in order to create more birdhouses to be displayed on campus. These birdhouses contributed to the reusing of normally tossed materials, and they also provide a home for the many birds that enjoy Poly's pollinator garden. Since the boxes are visible, they also serve as a reminder that the Poly campus is home to lots of native species that deserve a clean and well-kept environment.
Invasives Removal
In 2017, Poly students worked to remove invasive species in local areas.
