Composting
Students at Poly in the Gardening Club created and designated a open frame composter and vermicomposting bin. Students and faculty use this to compost weeds from the Environmental Club's Pollinator Garden, some fruits and vegetables that students bring from lunch, plants from Gardening and Aquaponics clubs. The soil is then used by the Gardening Club to enhance the garden's soil.

Recycling Club
The Poly Recycling Club continuously promotes sustainable waste management through the weekly collection of recycling in Poly's classrooms. This encourages teachers and students alike to properly dispose of recyclable materials. Twice a week students in the recycling club collect the recycling from each classroom and dispose of it in the recycling dumpster which is then collected by the city. As a result of the grant written by Poly students in 2016, Poly now has yellow wheel-able bins for recycling instead of lawn-leaf paper bags, which is more sustainable.
Recycled Holiday Tree
Annually during the holiday season, students in the Environmental Club create a holiday tree made principally out of waste found at Poly. These trees are then displayed at the front of school throughout the season.
Fruit Waste Reduction
Starting in 2019, cadets from JROTC self-initiated a volunteer program to set out bins in the cafeteria for all students to place their unwanted fruit instead of throwing them away. They then placed the bins in the hallway for students and faculty to eat.
